240 hours is a transit policy.

An onward journey to a third country or region is essential to the policy.

01

What the policy covers

The National Immigration Administration’s notice of 20 August 2026 includes US and UK nationals among those eligible to apply for 240-hour visa-free transit. It requires an ordinary passport and a confirmed onward ticket with a date and itinerary to a third country or region.

02

What still needs checking

Entry must be through an eligible port, and travel must remain within permitted areas. Check the current port and area list with the immigration authority and your carrier. A return itinerary to the same country or region is not the onward third-place journey described by this policy.

03

Make the route fit first

Establish entry eligibility before building your sightseeing days. Our route builder does not validate transit immigration conditions or calculate an authorised departure deadline.
